I recently attended a 2 day CPD at Rose Holistic Therapies led by Osteopath Louise Mauferon Vernet. I have studied with Louise before, I attended a whole horse dissection that she ran a few years ago, and more recently I attended a CPD she held on Visceral and Cranial techniques, which was also hosted by Jo Rose.

This day course was led by Lucy Yeomans who I did Equine Acupressure training with earlier in the year. Lucy works with horses & dogs very much energetically. This was something I took some interest in during the Acupressure training and wanted to learn more about. And I was also very interested to learn how this type of work can be used to realign & rebalance a horse’s body and also release the Psoas muscles.

I have been interested to gain some more in depth knowledge of the Equine Lymphatic System and how as a therapist I can help horses with lymphatic issues or edema.
Read MoreLast week I was excited to be attending a CPD in Animal Acupressure with Lucy Yeomans.
Lucy is a Reiki, Acupressure, Quantum Touch Healing, Myofascial Release and Visceral Release practitioner as well as an Equine Communicator.
The course was hosted by Rose Holistic Therapies who I have done multiple CPDs with before in Positional Release, Muscle Energy Techniques and Kinesiology Taping.
I have been looking forward to learning about Acupressure and how to apply it to horses, this course also included working on dogs which is cool, as although I am not a dog therapist I do have my own dogs and this was an opportunity to take them with me for the 2 days and learn how to give them some therapy too.

Might sound a little boring to some of you, but walk is a wonderful pace and has so many benefits for your horse 👍🏻
It’s also something you can easily do in-hand, so a suitable exercise for your youngsters, oldies or those recovering from injury
But why do I recommend walking more and what are the benefits❓
Read MoreThis morning I met my sponsored horse and rider combination Finn and Charlotte Bowden at Allens Hill Competition and Livery Centre for the BD dressage to give Finn a pre-event warm up massage 🖐 🤩
It was lovely to watch Finn really relax, swing and stretch in his second test after being a little ‘woohoo’ in his first 🐎
It’s been a busy couple of days treating both new horses and regular clients 👏🏻
Something I have been applying in most of my treatments over the past 2 days is heat therapy 🔥

This week I would like to talk about Phototonic Red Light Therapy.
Phototonic Red Light Therapy is not something I use in every treatment. It is an additional therapy I have in my ‘tool kit’ and during my hands-on assessment of your horse I may find it is a useful addition to encourage tension release and healing for your horse.

This week I would like to talk about stretching your horse.
Stretching is something I include in most of my treatments, always at the end of the therapy once your horse has been fully warmed up by hands-on massage and other techniques
